Pubs & Restaurants

This charming part of Derbyshire offers plenty of great pubs and restaurants. From cosy country inns with roaring fires and hearty meals to stylish bistros and traditional tea rooms, there’s something for every taste.

LOCAL FARM SHOPS & SUPERMARKETS

Whether you’re after fresh local produce, homemade treats, or everyday essentials, you’ll find it all nearby. From village stores and farm shops to larger supermarkets and retail parks, everything is within easy reach – perfect for stocking up, planning a picnic, or enjoying a bit of relaxed browsing.

Cycle Hire

With several cycle hire centres nearby, cycling is a fantastic way to explore the stunning Peak District. You’ll find bikes for all ages and abilities, including e-bikes, trailers, and child seats. Whether you’re planning a family adventure along the Monsal Trail or a gentle ride through quiet country lanes, it’s a great activity for all the family.

GARDEN CENTRES

For a slower-paced outing, visit one of the local garden centres nearby. They’re great for browsing plants, whether you’re a keen gardener or enjoy a peaceful wander. You can also pick up gifts or relax with a coffee and cake. It’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon! 

BAKEWELL

Just a short drive from Matlock, the charming market town of Bakewell is a must-visit during your stay. Known for its picturesque streets, riverside walks, and the famous Bakewell Pudding, this quaint town offers a delightful blend of independent shops, cosy cafés, and traditional countryside charm. 

TRAIN STATION

Matlock train station is just a short drive from the holiday cottage, conveniently located in the heart of Matlock town centre. If you’re wanting to plan a trip to Meadowhall for shopping or explore further afield to Leeds or York, the station offers easy access to a range of exciting travel destinations. 

MATLOCK BATH

Just a short drive from Amber Lane Farm Estate, Matlock Bath is a vibrant village with a seaside feel. Set along the River Derwent, it’s known for its arcades, fish and chips and riverside promenade. With attractions like Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham, it’s a fun day out for all ages.

CHATSWORTH & EDENSOR

Chatsworth House is one of the Peak District’s most iconic estates, with grand interiors, landscape gardens, and beautiful walking trails. Spend a day exploring the house or simply enjoy a quiet stroll through the neighbouring village of Edensor – a peaceful, picture-perfect spot.

HERITAGE & HISTORY

Enjoy a mix of history and nature by visiting Cromford Mills with its charming shops and canal walks or explore the beauty of Haddon Hall. Take a scenic ride on the Peak Rail steam train. For outdoor lovers, Carsington Water offers walking, cycling, and watersports, while families will love the interactive National Stone Centre. There’s something for everyone!
